30 × 40 inches
acrylic and oil on canvas
Years after the worst of the pandemic, I still find it difficult to go from thing to thing and keep a tight schedule without my cortisol spiking and my breath shallowing. That period of isolation was difficult for so many reasons, but I did love rarely having to hop in the car and rush off to much.
So these days, I’m box breathing when I feel that shift in my anxiety. In the pauses of breath has been a liminal space that feels calming, freeing, and welcoming. It is a way of slowing down when the world around me feels like it is expecting me to speed up.
